US Counterterrorism Chief Resigns Over Middle East Conflict
Resignation of Joe Kent
Joe Kent, the head of the US National Counterterrorism Center, has stepped down from his role amidst the escalating tensions in the Middle East. In a statement shared on X, Kent expressed his belief that Iran does not represent an "imminent threat" to the United States, attributing the initiation of the conflict to pressures from Israel during the Trump administration. He stated, "After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran." Kent further emphasized that the war was instigated due to the influence of Israel and its strong lobbying efforts in America.
