The party confirmed that it will announce the remaining candidates for other constituencies in due time.
In a related development, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has mandated the transfer and appointment of several IAS officers as District Election Officers (DEOs) in Assam in preparation for the 2026 Assembly elections.
As per the directive, P Uday Praveen (IAS-2016) has been assigned as DEO of Kokrajhar, Srishti Singh (IAS-2021) in Majuli, Kimnei Changsan (IAS-2014) in Baksa, Madhusudan Nath (IAS-2014) in Chirang, and Jay Vikash (IAS-2021) in Udalguri.
The Commission has issued stringent instructions for compliance.
“The Government of Assam is instructed to implement these postings immediately and provide a compliance report regarding the officers' joining by 3:00 PM on March 17, 2026,” the order specified.
It further stressed the importance of election neutrality.
“Officers who have been transferred out shall not be assigned to any election-related duties until the election process is completed,” the directive noted.
This reshuffle is viewed as part of the ECI’s initiative to ensure free and fair elections throughout the state.
