Kushwaha's Firm Stance on Party Independence
After Upendra Kushwaha, the leader of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM), declined the offer to merge his party with the BJP, the likelihood of Deepak Prakash retaining his ministerial position appears to be diminishing. Sources indicate that the BJP had proposed the merger to consolidate its coalition partners. However, Kushwaha opted to maintain his party's distinct identity while remaining within the NDA.

Reports suggest that a similar merger proposal was presented when Deepak Prakash was first inducted into the cabinet in November 2025. Despite the offer being rejected by Kushwaha at that time, the BJP included Prakash in the cabinet, hoping that the evolving political landscape and concerns regarding Kushwaha's son's future might lead to a change of heart.
