Election Commission Announces By-elections

The Election Commission has made a significant announcement regarding by-elections scheduled for June 19 across five assembly seats in four Indian states. The counting of votes for these seats will take place on June 23. This decision aims to fill vacancies that arose due to the passing or resignation of current legislators.


Details of the Assembly Seats

Among the vacant seats, two are located in Gujarat. The first is the Kadi seat, which became vacant following the unfortunate demise of the sitting MLA, Karsanbhai Punjabhai Solanki. The second seat is Visavadar, where a by-election is necessary due to the resignation of the current member, Bhayani Bhupendrabhai Gandubhai.


Other States Involved

In Kerala, a by-election will be held for the Nilambur seat, as the current member, P.V. Anwar, has resigned. Similarly, the Ludhiana seat in Punjab is also up for a by-election due to the passing of its member, Gurpreet Bassi Gogi. Lastly, the Kaliaganj assembly seat in West Bengal will also see a by-election following the death of its sitting member, Nasiruddin Ahmed.
