UP Prometheans Join the Shooting League of India for Inaugural Season
Introduction of UP Prometheans in the Shooting League
New Delhi, Dec 18: The Shooting League of India (SLI) has officially welcomed a new franchise, the UP Prometheans, which is based in Uttar Pradesh. This addition is set to enhance the league's inaugural season, scheduled to take place from February 16 to 26, 2026.
This new team not only expands the league's reach but also aligns with its mission to cultivate a comprehensive and inclusive environment for shooting sports in India.
Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), expressed enthusiasm about the UP Prometheans joining the league, stating, “We are thrilled to have UP Prometheans as part of the Shooting League of India. Uttar Pradesh possesses significant sporting potential, and the franchise's commitment to education and development greatly enhances the league's value.”
The UP Prometheans are owned by Mukesh Sharma, who is the founder and chairperson of Prometheus, an international school situated in Noida.
Sharma’s dedication to fostering opportunities through educational infrastructure aligns seamlessly with SLI's vision of establishing a sustainable ecosystem that nurtures talent and motivates youth, elevating Indian shooting to new heights.
Importantly, Prometheus School incorporates shooting as a formal sport starting from Grade 5, focusing on developing technical skills, mental toughness, precision, and hand-eye coordination among its students.
The school features an Olympic-standard indoor shooting range, which includes a 10-meter range equipped with 10 manual targets and one SIUS electronic target system. Additionally, it has two electronic pistols and one rifle, with all training conducted in strict adherence to ISSF regulations.
Students receive coaching from certified professionals and are supported by Khelo India (SAI) talent identification experts. They also participate in workshops and seminars led by Arjuna Awardees and Olympians.
Prometheus athletes are already making their mark at the national level, with competitors like Siya Marwah, Vaivaswat Vijay Singh Deo, Siana Monga, Sidhaan Gandhi, Ayaana Chinaria, Aarish Goel, and Ayaan Khan showcasing how access to top-notch facilities is paving the way for young shooters to excel.
Commenting on the franchise's entry into the league, the owner of UP Prometheans remarked, “Shooting is one of India's premier Olympic sports, and Uttar Pradesh has the talent and potential to significantly contribute to this journey.
“With UP Prometheans, we aim to establish a structured and professional platform that provides athletes with the necessary infrastructure, coaching, and competitive opportunities. The Shooting League of India is a crucial step in fortifying this ecosystem, and I am excited to be part of the inaugural season.”
