UP Deputy CM Responds to Akhilesh Yadav on Vande Mataram Debate

In a recent assembly session, Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya defended the significance of Vande Mataram in response to comments made by Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav. Maurya highlighted the anthem's historical importance in India's fight against colonialism and expressed hope for a respectful discussion in the assembly. He also assured that the government is ready to address any questions from the opposition. The conversation around Vande Mataram reflects broader themes of national pride and unity, as emphasized by other officials in the assembly.
 

Deputy CM's Response to Opposition Leader

On Friday, Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya addressed the assembly regarding the topic of Vande Mataram, responding to the arguments presented by Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav. Speaking to the media, Maurya emphasized that Vande Mataram is a significant anthem that aided India in its struggle against colonial rule. He remarked that the leader of the Samajwadi Party should refrain from commenting on this matter.


 


Maurya stated that discussing Vande Mataram signifies the singing of this revered anthem, which played a crucial role in driving the British out of India. He further asserted that this anthem symbolizes a vision for a prosperous India, where the poor become affluent, farmers thrive, women are empowered, and the youth have a bright future.


 


He expressed confidence that the government made a sound decision regarding the assembly discussions and hoped that the opposition would maintain decorum during the debates. Additionally, he mentioned that the government is prepared to respond to any questions raised by the opposition, regardless of any disruptions that may occur. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Suresh Khanna also addressed the ongoing discussion about Vande Mataram, highlighting its significance to freedom fighters and its adoption in various states.


 


Khanna noted that Vande Mataram was sung by our freedom fighters and has since gained popularity in other states, as it expresses respect for Mother India. He assured that this topic would be thoroughly discussed. Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had stated that members would address public interest issues during this session and advance legislative work related to the development of Uttar Pradesh, including supplementary demands from various departments.
