Jaisalmer Police Capture Notorious Thief

The police in Jaisalmer have apprehended a cunning thief named Tejaram, known for leaving quirky messages written in lipstick on walls after committing thefts. Following a burglary at an engineer's residence, he inscribed a humorous note suggesting, 'If you keep liquor at home, don't forget the chips.' This thief is also known for lingering at crime scenes to enjoy meals, and he has a history of 18 prior offenses.



In the golden city of Jaisalmer, the police have arrested a unique and crafty burglar. This thief not only steals valuable items but also spends two to three hours at the crime scene, enjoying meals and leaving sarcastic slogans on the walls. Identifying himself as 'Bihari Babu,' he left a notable message after robbing an engineer's home.


The incident occurred on the night of January 31, when a burglary took place at the residence of Assistant Engineer Sohan Jangid in the IGNP Colony. The thief broke into the house and stole a laptop, television, perfume, and branded clothing. However, when the police and the homeowner arrived, they were astonished to find the message left on the wall.


The thief picked up lipstick from the house and boldly wrote on the wall, 'If you keep liquor at home, don't forget the chips.' He even challenged the police by adding, 'If you file a complaint, it will be a waste of time; don't bother reporting it.'


Arrest After Three Months of Investigation


Taking the challenge seriously, the police initiated an investigation. Under the leadership of Jaisalmer Kotwali Station Officer Surajaram, a team activated informants. Based on technical evidence and information, the police raided Jodhpur and arrested 39-year-old Tejaram Suthar. They recovered the stolen laptop from the engineer's home.


Thief's Bizarre Habits and Methods


During police interrogation, several shocking revelations about the accused emerged. Tejaram did not flee immediately after committing theft; instead, he would stay for 2-3 hours, enjoying food from the fridge and using the stolen branded perfumes and clothes. He has 18 previous theft cases against him and readily admits to his crimes in court, saying, 'Yes, I did steal.' After serving his sentence, he quickly resumes his criminal activities.


Currently, the Jaisalmer police are holding the accused in custody to recover items from other thefts. Meanwhile, the story of this 'Bihari Babu' and his unusual demands has gone viral across Rajasthan.
