Police Uncover Innovative Robbery Scheme

The Bareilly police have successfully dismantled a peculiar gang of robbers who employed their wives in their criminal activities. This gang targeted unsuspecting pensioners and government employees exiting banks. They would wait in different auto-rickshaws, with their wives dressed attractively, to lure in potential victims. Once the victims were distracted, the gang would take them to a remote location and rob them of their cash. Authorities, with the assistance of the Special Operations Group (SOG), have arrested five individuals, including two couples. Approximately one lakh rupees in stolen cash has been recovered from the suspects, who have confessed to eight robbery incidents so far. Further investigations are underway to uncover more details about their operations.

Adil and Shaba are one couple involved, along with Asgar and Noori, another couple. The fifth member, Usman Ali, acted as the mastermind behind the gang, orchestrating their robberies with innovative tactics. Noori, along with her friend Shaba, led the gang's operations.

Over the past year, there has been a notable increase in bank-related robberies in Bareilly. To address this, police officials deployed both regular officers and SOG teams. Usman Ali would scout banks during the first two weeks of each month, targeting individuals withdrawing pensions or salaries. Adil and Asgar would arrive in separate auto-rickshaws with their wives, who were dressed to appear as passengers.

When a victim exited the bank after withdrawing cash, Usman Ali would signal the others to approach. The wives, already seated in the autos, would assist in enticing the victims to join them. Once the victims were inside, the gang would drive them away under the pretense of a vehicle malfunction and rob them. According to police reports, the gang has admitted to eight such robberies.

The Kotwali police have made a significant breakthrough by apprehending this five-member gang, which has been active since last year. The gang would observe individuals withdrawing cash from banks and then wait outside in autos to pick them up. The women in the gang played a crucial role in distracting the victims while using coded signals. Over 93,000 rupees have been recovered from the gang, and they have confessed to eight robbery incidents. Interrogations are ongoing.
