Union Minister Promotes Fit India Movement at 69th Fit India Sundays Event

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya led the 69th Fit India Sundays event, urging citizens to embrace fitness as a cornerstone for a developed India. Promoting Fitness for Nation-Building

On Sunday, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, highlighted the essential role of fitness in the development of the nation during the 69th Fit India Sundays event held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. He encouraged citizens to embrace the Fit India movement and lead active lifestyles to help realize the vision of a developed India.


A Nationwide Movement Inspired by Leadership

Mandaviya remarked, "Sunday on Cycle has evolved into a nationwide initiative. The youth, inspired by Prime Minister Modi, are increasingly aware of the importance of fitness. The message of Fit India is not merely a slogan; it is vital for achieving Viksit Bharat (Developed India)."


The Foundation of a Developed Nation

He emphasized that for India to progress as a developed nation, the fitness of its citizens, particularly the youth, is crucial. "A healthy citizen contributes to a healthy society, which in turn fosters a developed nation. I urge everyone, especially the youth, to participate in the Sunday on Cycle initiative and promote the Fit India message," he stated.


Integrating Sustainability with Fitness

The Minister also highlighted the connection between sustainability and fitness through the Fit India App, which allows users to earn carbon credits by cycling. This initiative encourages eco-friendly transportation while rewarding healthy habits. Users can redeem their carbon credits for products, and a leaderboard for cycling will soon feature material incentives.


Event Highlights and Community Involvement

The event was filled with energy, featuring high-energy music, synchronized Zumba sessions, yoga mats in activity zones, and a lineup of bicycles. The venue transformed into a vibrant fitness hub early in the morning.


Activities included yoga demonstrations, tug of war, rope-skipping, recreational games, photo booths, and various interactive fitness experiences. Participants of all ages, including celebrities, students, professionals, athletes, and families, attended in large numbers.


Recognizing Fitness Champions

Pinki Jangra, a bronze medalist boxer from the Commonwealth Games 2014, was honored alongside fitness influencers such as Dinesh Shetty, a Muay Thai champion, and Sonia Sisodia, a social activist.


Additionally, a 'nukkad natak' (street play) was performed by the Raahgiri Foundation, focusing on the theme of 'State Youth Leaders,' who partnered with this edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle. This initiative combined fitness with social awareness and community messaging. The State Youth Leaders are also involved in the My Bharat initiative, which supports the Fit India movement through the efforts of young volunteers.


Yoga and Fitness Challenges

A special yoga consultation booth, supported by the Ministry of AYUSH under its Yoga 365 initiative, provided participants with guided sessions and consultations. A smart wall fitness challenge aimed at enhancing neural activity attracted enthusiastic crowds of all ages.


A Nationwide Initiative

Fit India Sundays on Cycle is organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) in partnership with various organizations, including the Cycling Federation of India, Indian Rope Skipping Federation, Yogasana Bharat, Raahgiri Foundation, MY Bikes, and MY Bharat. The cycling initiative takes place simultaneously across all States and Union Territories, including SAI Regional Centres, National Centres of Excellence, SAI Training Centres, Khelo India State Centres of Excellence, and Khelo India Centres.


Remarkable Growth and Participation

Since its launch in December 2024 by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Fit India Sundays on Cycle has transformed into a significant public movement, with over 2.63 lakh locations participating and more than 28 lakh citizens involved nationwide.
