Tribute to a Journalism Legend


Guwahati, Dec 23: On Monday, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal visited the home of the late Prafulla Govinda Baruah, the esteemed Chairman Emeritus of a prominent media group, to express his condolences to the grieving family.


During his visit, Sonowal remarked, “PG Baruah was a pioneer in Indian journalism whose visionary leadership significantly advanced the field, emphasizing the media's crucial role as a cornerstone of democracy. His steadfast dedication to integrity, ethical standards, and journalism in the public interest established lasting benchmarks, and his legacy will continue to motivate future journalists.”


Sonowal further noted that under PG Baruah’s stewardship, the media group maintained its reputation and public confidence. He recalled having met Baruah multiple times, emphasizing that his guidance and encouragement to serve the nation selflessly would always be cherished.
