Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Advocates Cycling for Health and Sustainability
Promoting Fitness and Eco-Friendly Transport
On Tuesday, Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, took part in the 'Cycling by the Sea' event, which stretched from Chacka ITI to Sankumugham Beach. This initiative is part of the Fit India Movement and attracted over 250 participants from a local cycling club, emphasizing the importance of fitness and sustainable transportation.
"Cycling in Thiruvananthapuram has been an incredible experience. More than 250 enthusiastic young cyclists joined us today. If you aim to maintain good health, start cycling; and if you wish to protect our environment, choose a bicycle to conserve fuel and reduce pollution," Mandaviya stated.
India's Readiness for Upcoming Sports Events
Mandaviya also discussed India's preparedness for future international sporting events, expressing confidence in Indian athletes. He remarked, "Our athletes are always prepared for any competition ahead. With the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games approaching, we anticipate remarkable performances from them."
Observing International Olympic Day
The Minister conveyed his best wishes on International Olympic Day, emphasizing the fundamental Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect. He noted the significant growth of India's sports culture under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
In a message shared on X, Mandaviya highlighted that this day serves as a global reminder of the values that motivate millions through sports. "Happy Olympic Day to all! Today, we honor the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect that inspire countless individuals worldwide. Under PM @narendramodi's guidance, India is experiencing a remarkable sports revolution, empowering athletes and encouraging every citizen to adopt sports as a lifestyle," he wrote.
International Olympic Day is celebrated globally on June 23 to commemorate the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the revival of the modern Olympic Games. Established in 1948, this day promotes physical fitness, inclusivity, and the Olympic ideals of excellence, friendship, and respect.
