Promoting Quality and Inclusivity in Entrepreneurship

Bhubaneswar: On Saturday, Jayant Chaudhary, the Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, called on businesses to prioritize the production of high-quality goods to stand out in the international market.

During the closing ceremony of a two-day workshop titled ‘Promoting Entrepreneurial Growth: Economic Inclusion, Market Access, and Digital Skills Development’, Chaudhary pointed out that India is increasingly recognized for both the quality of its products and the skills of its workforce, which can greatly boost the nation's competitive edge.

He also referenced the Union Budget 2025, which includes various initiatives designed to empower women and marginalized groups.

Significantly, approximately Rs 10,000 crore in loans have been approved under the Fund of Funds (FoF) to support these communities in starting their own businesses.

Chaudhary emphasized that while the government has rolled out numerous programs to help citizens achieve their goals, these initiatives will only succeed if individuals are aware of and utilize their rights to access these opportunities.

The workshop was organized by the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

It attracted participants from various sectors and tackled essential entrepreneurial challenges, such as limited financial access, market entry barriers, and the slow uptake of digital technologies.

The event included panel discussions and sessions led by experts covering vital topics like government economic initiatives, institutional financing, venture capital, and alternative economic models to foster business growth.

The training aimed to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset among emerging leaders and provide them with insights into government programs, financial literacy, market access, and digital skills.

Over 100 entrepreneurs from Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh, many of whom were trained under the ministry’s ‘Riksal’ program, participated in the workshop.

Participants received actionable strategies to expand their businesses and strengthen their professional networks, positioning them for success in the entrepreneurial landscape.

Additionally, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was established between NIESBUD and IIM-Sambalpur to further promote entrepreneurship in Odisha.

This initiative is in line with India's goal of becoming a self-sufficient nation by fostering digitally-enabled and inclusive entrepreneurship.
