Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's Upcoming Visit to Meghalaya

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to visit Meghalaya for four days, where she will engage in various development-focused activities. Her itinerary includes inaugurating the Polo Shopping Complex, attending the Northeast Conclave, and interacting with local entrepreneurs and community groups. This visit aims to strengthen ties with local stakeholders and promote entrepreneurship in the region. Key events include the foundation stone laying for the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs and meetings with industry leaders and self-help groups. The visit highlights the government's commitment to fostering development in Meghalaya.
 

Nirmala Sitharaman's Four-Day Visit to Meghalaya


Shillong is set to welcome Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday for a four-day engagement in Meghalaya, where she will take part in several significant events, including the Northeast Conclave.


Her arrival is anticipated in the afternoon, and her schedule is packed with development-oriented discussions with various stakeholders.


The purpose of her visit is to assess ongoing development projects, encourage entrepreneurship, and enhance connections with local communities, as stated by officials.


On her first day, she will inaugurate the Polo Shopping Complex and engage with interns from the Project Monitoring Information System (PMIS).


On July 11, she will officially open the Northeast Conclave and lay the groundwork for the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) campus at IIM Shillong.


Meghalaya's Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma will be present at the IIM Shillong event as the guest of honour.


Additionally, Sitharaman plans to visit Shillong Tech Park in Umsawli and launch an exhibition featuring products from local farmers and entrepreneurs at the Lariti International Centre.


On July 12, she will convene with industry leaders at Courtyard Marriott, followed by meetings with Women Self-Help Groups, known as 'Lakhpati Didis', and farmer producer organizations (FPOs) in Laitkynsew village.


Later, she will interact with beneficiaries of the Payment for Ecosystem Services Programme in Siej village and participate in a public event at Sohbar village, which is located near the Indo-Bangladesh border and is one of the 96 designated Vibrant Villages.


Before concluding her visit on July 13, she will tour the Ramakrishna Mission School in Sohra.
