Typhoon Dujuan Approaches East Japan

On Monday, a significant typhoon was advancing towards the Pacific Coast of East Japan, prompting the Japan Meteorological Agency to issue warnings about potential heavy rainfall, strong winds, and landslides. According to reports, Typhoon Dujuan is expected to pass close to the Boso Peninsula in Chiba Prefecture, located east of Tokyo, from the evening until late Monday.

The Kanto-Koshin region in eastern Japan and the Tokai region in Central Japan may experience intense downpours due to linear rainbands.

This year's 25th typhoon has already caused disruptions in transportation, leading to the closure of certain highway sections during a five-day holiday period.

Currently, the typhoon is situated approximately 110 kilometers west-southwest of Hachijo Island and is moving northeast at a speed of 20 km/h.

Fortunately, the Asian Games venue in Aichi-Nagoya has not yet experienced severe weather conditions, although the weather office anticipates some effects later in the day. As a precaution, the organizers have decided to postpone the equestrian eventing competition until Tuesday.

The typhoon's northward trajectory could result in heavy rainfall across eastern and northeastern Japan through Tuesday, with a linear rainband potentially forming over Shizuoka Prefecture and the Izu Islands, as indicated by the Japan Meteorological Agency.

Asian Games 2026: India Wins Silver in Shooting

In sports news, India's shooting team continued its impressive performance at the Asian Games 2026, securing a silver medal in the men's 10 m air rifle team event on Monday. The team, consisting of Rudrankksh Patil, Parth Mane, and Himanshu Dhillon, achieved a score of 1890.1, falling short of China's first-place score of 1899.0. South Korea claimed the bronze medal with a score of 1841.4.

This victory marks India's third medal at the Asian Games 2026, with all three being silver medals in shooting events.

During the men's 10 m air rifle individual qualifying round, which also served as the team final, Rudrankksh secured third place with a score of 631.8, while Himanshu finished seventh with 630.0. Parth placed 11th with a score of 628.3.

Both Rudrankksh and Himanshu qualified for the individual final, which is set to take place later. Together, the trio's combined score of 1890.1 earned them the silver medal.
