Discovery of Unexploded Mortars

In Mendhar, Jammu, on August 3, two unexploded mortar shells were found in two villages of Poonch district, which were subsequently destroyed safely by the army's bomb disposal unit, as reported by officials.

According to the authorities, the first incident occurred when locals spotted an inactive mortar shell in an open field near the Chajjla bridge in the Mankot area and promptly alerted the police and security forces.

Upon receiving the information, security personnel arrived at the scene and cordoned off the entire area. They then called in the army's bomb disposal team to examine the explosives, which were destroyed through a controlled explosion while adhering to all safety protocols.

Additionally, another inactive mortar shell was discovered in the fields of Adhki village near the Mendhar stream, which was safely neutralized by experts.

Officials indicated that the explosives likely originated from previous cross-border shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) and had remained inactive since then.
