Two Arrested in Manipur Drug Busts: Opium and Brown Sugar Seized

In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Manipur police have arrested two individuals linked to the possession of opium and brown sugar. The first arrest involved a 43-year-old man in Churachandpur district, where authorities seized over 13 kilograms of opium from his home. In a separate incident, a 50-year-old man from Assam was apprehended in Senapati district with 80 grams of brown sugar hidden in soap boxes. These operations highlight ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the region.
 

Significant Drug Seizures in Manipur

Imphal, August 3 - Authorities in Manipur have apprehended two individuals in separate incidents, recovering drugs valued in the millions. According to a statement released by the police on Monday, a 43-year-old man was arrested in Churachandpur district on Sunday, with 13.2 kilograms of opium found in his possession. The arrested individual has been identified as Seikhogin Mate.


He was taken into custody from his residence in the village of T. Khuangkhaai, located in the Sangai Kot sub-division of Churachandpur district. The police confirmed that the opium was seized directly from his home.


In a separate operation, law enforcement officials arrested a resident of Assam, recovering 80 grams of brown sugar from him. This arrest occurred in Senapati district on Sunday.


The individual, identified as Arun Dutta, 50, hails from Dibrugarh in Assam. He was detained during a search operation at the T. Khullen checkpoint.


Police reported that the brown sugar was cleverly concealed within eight soap boxes found in his possession.
