In Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odisha, authorities have apprehended two individuals in connection with the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl. The police disclosed this information on Sunday.


According to law enforcement, the incident took place on December 18 around 2 PM. An officer reported that the two suspects allegedly sexually assaulted the minor in a rented accommodation.


The suspects reportedly lured the victim under the pretense of offering her a job as a data entry operator, inviting her to their residence for discussions related to the employment opportunity.


A case has been registered at the Shaheed Nagar police station regarding this matter. The officer added, "Both suspects have been presented in court, where they were remanded to judicial custody."


Recent Similar Incidents

This incident marks the second case of its kind in Bhubaneswar within the last ten days. Previously, on the evening of December 10, another 17-year-old girl was reportedly gang-raped near the Dhauligiri Peace Stupa on the outskirts of the city.


In that earlier case, police have arrested three individuals, and the investigation is ongoing.
