Police Encounter Leads to Arrests in Jalaun
In Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, two suspects were apprehended following an encounter with the police related to a cow slaughter incident. Officials provided this update on Wednesday.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Durgesh Kumar stated that the operation was conducted by the district SWAT team in collaboration with the Kauch police station.
During the encounter that took place on Tuesday night, law enforcement recovered illegal firearms, cartridges, a motorcycle, a knife, and an axe from the suspects.
According to Kumar, on January 11, remains of cattle were discovered near a drain along the fields between the villages of Kudra Khurd and Kudra Buzurg in the Kauch police jurisdiction. Following this, the police arrived at the scene and, after consulting a veterinarian, buried the remains respectfully.
The police reported that a case was registered against unidentified individuals under the Uttar Pradesh Cow Slaughter Prevention Act. Given the seriousness of the incident, SP Kumar established four police teams to capture the offenders.
Based on electronic surveillance and other evidence, three suspects were identified during the investigation. Officials noted that on Tuesday night, they received information that two suspects involved in the cow slaughter case were planning to repeat their actions in the Baher area, prompting the SWAT team and Kauch police to set up a blockade on the Khova-Rawa link road.
When the police attempted to stop two individuals riding a motorcycle, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the police team. In response, the police acted in self-defense, resulting in the injury and subsequent arrest of both suspects. The injured individuals were identified as Kalla alias Javed (45) and Asgar alias Aggas (46), both residents of the Arazi Line area in Kauch.
