TVK's Clear Position on Alliances
As the TVK leader Vijay awaits his return to Chennai following questioning by the CBI, the party's General Secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar stated on Tuesday that the party maintains a clear ideological stance. He emphasized that decisions regarding alliances for the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections will be made by the leaders. Speaking to reporters in Chennai while waiting for Vijay's arrival from Delhi, Kumar remarked that they are fully aware of their plans and the nature of their alliances. He reiterated that their ideological position has already been made clear and assured that they would inform the public if any alliance discussions arise.
Film Release and Support from Leaders
Kumar further mentioned that decisions regarding alliances will be taken by their leaders. Discussing Vijay's latest film 'Jana Nayakan', which has faced delays in certification, he expressed the desire for the film to be released peacefully. He acknowledged the support received for the film's release, stating, "We thank all those leaders and individuals who have backed the film. This is our leader's final film, and emotionally, all our party workers, the entire Tamil Nadu, and fans wanted it to be released peacefully. However, the matter is currently pending in court. We will accept the situation once the film is released."
Support from Rahul Gandhi
Previously, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha and a Congress leader, expressed his support for the film's release. He criticized the central government for halting the film's certification by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), labeling it an attack on Tamil culture. He stated that Prime Minister Modi will not succeed in silencing the voices of the Tamil people. Gandhi took to social media, asserting, "The attempt by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to block 'Jana Nayakan' is an assault on Tamil culture. Modi, you will never succeed in suppressing the voices of the Tamil people."
