TVK Refutes Alliance Speculations
The Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) has categorically dismissed reports claiming that the party is in discussions with AIADMK and BJP regarding an alliance for the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections on April 23. This clarification from the party, led by actor Vijay, follows media speculation suggesting that TVK was offered the deputy chief minister position along with 50 to 70 seats to join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Latest Developments
On Monday night, Vijay firmly rejected the rumors of a potential alliance with the BJP-led NDA, reiterating that TVK will contest the Tamil Nadu assembly elections independently. This decision sets the stage for a four-cornered contest in the state. His statement came shortly after reports indicated that discussions between TVK and the NDA were in the final stages.
During a meeting with TVK executives in Pattinapakkam, Vijay announced that the party has not engaged in any discussions regarding alliances with other political entities and will participate in the elections solo. He confidently stated, "We will fight the elections alone. We will conduct fieldwork in the constituencies. The list of candidates will be announced soon. I will also tour across Tamil Nadu. We will definitely win the elections."
Official Statement from TVK
A statement released by the party's Joint General Secretary and Chief Spokesperson, C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar, emphasized that there have been no discussions or negotiations with the aforementioned parties or political leaders at any level. The statement also pointed out that similar false propaganda had previously been spread involving other parties, including Congress, and that the public eventually recognized these claims as untrue. Nevertheless, DMK members continue to disseminate such baseless news to create confusion among the populace.
