Trump's Controversial Claim on Iran's Executions Sparks Outrage
Trump's Statement and Iran's Response
A new controversy has emerged following a statement from US President Donald Trump, who asserted that Iran had agreed to halt the execution of eight women protesters. This claim has been met with strong denial from Tehran, which has openly ridiculed Trump's assertion. On social media, Trump referred to the situation as 'very good news,' stating he had received information that the eight women, who were reportedly facing execution, would be spared. He mentioned that four of them would be released immediately, while the other four would serve a month in prison. 'I greatly appreciate that Iran and its leaders honored my request and canceled the planned executions,' Trump stated.
Iran's Dismissal of Trump's Claims
Iranian officials swiftly rejected Trump's claims, labeling them as completely false. The judiciary's news agency, Mizan, reported that there had never been any plans for executions and accused Trump of fabricating the story to maintain his image. 'Trump's failures on the battlefield have led him to create achievements from fabricated news,' the agency commented, asserting that the US president had based his claims on 'entirely false information.' The Iranian Embassy in Saudi Arabia also chimed in, mocking the situation on social media by stating, 'Hurray, Trump saved 8 AI-generated people,' implying that the entire narrative was unfounded.
According to Iranian authorities, some of the women mentioned had already been released, while others were facing charges that could result in imprisonment but not execution. A judiciary statement clarified, 'The women who were said to be on the brink of execution... at most face imprisonment.' This dispute arises amid escalating tensions between the US and Iran, despite a ceasefire that was declared on April 8. Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with Iran's refusal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital passage for global oil and gas shipments. Meanwhile, the White House defended Trump's assertions, with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt commending his actions. She told a news outlet, 'Only President Trump could save the lives of these eight beautiful Iranian women... their lives are going to be spared,' referring to him as 'a humanitarian at heart.'
