Major News Outlets Challenge Trump's Press Restrictions

Washington: On Monday, CNN, MS NOW, and Politico announced their intention to file a lawsuit against President Donald Trump's administration after being denied access to the White House.

The reporters from these prominent news organizations were barred from entering the White House on Saturday, following Trump's declaration that he would prohibit them due to what he termed 'fake news' reporting.

This incident marks a significant escalation in Trump's ongoing attempts to limit media coverage from journalists he deems unfavorable, raising questions about First Amendment rights in the U.S. Trump had previously stated his intention to exclude these outlets based on their coverage.

Betsy Klein from CNN and Akayla Gardner from MS NOW reported live that they were turned away at the White House, with their press credentials deactivated. Shortly thereafter, Cheyenne Haslett from Politico also faced a similar fate, having her badge taken away.

All three news organizations had previously indicated they might pursue legal action, emphasizing their commitment to defending their First Amendment rights.

In a joint statement shared on X, the outlets expressed concern, stating, 'Without notice or process, the White House revoked our journalists' credentials because it objected to our reporting.'
