Trump's Stance on Iran Negotiations

Washington: President Donald Trump has indicated that military action against Iran could be back on the table if the nation does not comply with expectations, despite currently reviewing a new proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.

While traveling from Palm Beach to Miami, Trump expressed skepticism about the likelihood of reaching an agreement, arguing that Iran has not faced sufficient consequences for its actions over the past 47 years.

"If they misbehave, if they do something bad, we will see. It’s certainly a possibility," Trump remarked at Palm Beach airport following a golf outing and a dental appointment.

He mentioned that he was examining the Iranian proposal during his flight and planned to address the media in Miami.

"I’m looking at it on the plane. I’ll provide updates later... They informed me about the deal's concept and are now providing the exact wording," Trump stated.

However, an aide later confirmed that there would be no press conference in Miami.

On social media, Trump expressed doubts about the acceptability of the proposal, emphasizing that Iran has not yet paid a significant price for its past actions.

Details regarding the proposal under review were not immediately disclosed.

According to reports, the proposal, submitted on Thursday, includes a one-month deadline for negotiations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, lift the US naval blockade, and permanently conclude the war in Iran and Lebanon.

Following this, another month of discussions would focus on Iran's nuclear program, as per the sources.

Trump had previously dismissed an Iranian proposal earlier this week, citing dissatisfaction, but discussions have persisted, and a three-week ceasefire seems to be holding.

Additionally, Trump received a briefing from CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper regarding potential military strategies against Iran, with Cooper subsequently visiting troops aboard the USS Tripoli in the Arabian Sea.

The President is also contending with rising gas prices, which have surged to $4.39 per gallon, marking a 47% increase since the conflict with Iran began on February 28.

This week, the situation worsened as Trump reiterated his intention to maintain the blockade on Iranian ports, enforced by the US Navy since April 13.

"Gas prices are high. Once the war concludes, prices will decrease," Trump told reporters on Friday.
