On Tuesday, President Donald Trump stated that Iran is eager to engage in discussions, but the United States has "no interest" in pursuing negotiations at this time. The relationship between the two nations has deteriorated recently, particularly as their temporary agreement aimed at resolving ongoing conflicts collapses. Trump remarked to reporters at the White House, "They want to meet desperately. Until they are prepared to engage in a meaningful dialogue, we are not interested in meeting." He noted that Iranian officials have indicated behind closed doors their urgent desire to negotiate, citing their dire situation.

Additionally, Trump warned that the US plans to target Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain site "pretty soon." When questioned about the potential relocation of Iranian nuclear centrifuges to this location, situated near Natanz, he stated, "We don't have it on record. However, it doesn’t matter unless they possess the necessary materials. We monitor the materials closely, as that is where the real concern lies... We will likely strike that area soon and with significant force. There’s nothing they can do to prevent it. Normally, I wouldn’t disclose such intentions, but I believe they are powerless to respond effectively."

Iranian Officials Engage with Pakistani Mediators

Trump's comments coincide with ongoing meetings between Iranian officials and mediators in Pakistan. Iran's Interior Minister, Eskandar Momeni, recently met with Pakistan's army chief, Asim Munir, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Reports indicate that Sharif expressed significant concern regarding the escalating tensions in the Gulf region, urging all parties to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could further destabilize the area. His office released a statement emphasizing Pakistan's commitment to serving as a sincere mediator in the conflict.
