Trump Asserts US Control Over Strait of Hormuz Amid Rising Tensions
US President's Strong Stance on Strait of Hormuz
On Thursday, President of the United States, Donald Trump, declared that the US maintains "total control" over the Strait of Hormuz. He instructed the navy to take decisive action against any vessels attempting to lay mines in this crucial waterway. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital passage that links the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman, facilitating the transit of approximately 20% of the global oil and liquefied natural gas supply. This area has been a significant point of contention since the onset of the US-Israel-Iran conflict.
Trump emphasized on social media, "I have ordered the United States Navy to shoot and kill any boat, small boats though they may be (Their naval ships are ALL, 159 of them, at the bottom of the sea!), that is putting mines in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. There is to be no hesitation." He further noted that US forces are actively engaged in mine-clearing operations, stating, "Additionally, our mine sweepers are clearing the Strait right now. I am hereby ordering that activity to continue, but at a tripled up level!"
He asserted that no vessels can navigate in or out of the Strait of Hormuz without US authorization, declaring, "We have total control over the Strait of Hormuz. No ship can enter or leave without the approval of the United States Navy." Trump added, "It is 'Sealed up Tight,' until such time as Iran is able to make a DEAL!!!" This announcement followed reports indicating that Iran had received its first revenue from tolls imposed on the strategic waterway. A senior Iranian parliamentary official confirmed that the initial revenue from these tolls had been deposited into the Central Bank, as reported by the Tasnim news agency.
