Trump Announces Potential New Iran Agreement Amidst Contradictory Statements

US President Donald Trump has announced a potential new agreement with Iran, claiming it will prevent the country from obtaining nuclear weapons and lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. However, Iranian officials have contradicted this timeline, stating that the deal will not be signed as soon as Trump suggests. The announcement highlights significant differences from the previous nuclear deal established under Barack Obama. Trump emphasizes that no financial payments will be made to Iran under this new arrangement. As the situation develops, the implications for US-Iran relations and the broader Middle East remain to be seen.

Trump's Announcement on Iran Deal

On Saturday, US President Donald Trump declared that a new agreement with Iran is set to be signed the following day, asserting that it would prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and facilitate the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. This announcement came shortly after Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated that the deal would not be finalized on Sunday, urging caution regarding the timing. Baghaei mentioned, "We will have to wait and see about the exact date of the signing of the memorandum of understanding, although it will not be tomorrow," adding that while the signing could happen soon, the other party's hesitance necessitates careful commentary on the situation.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that this proposed agreement would significantly differ from the 2015 nuclear deal established during Barack Obama's presidency. He criticized the previous deal, stating, "Barack Hussein Obama's Deal with Iran, the JCPOA, was an easy, beautiful, smooth road to a Nuclear Weapon, which Iran would have had six years ago, and would have used long before now." Trump asserted, "My Agreement with Iran is the exact opposite, A WALL TO NO NUCLEAR WEAPON!" He claimed that Iran no longer desires to develop a nuclear weapon and would not acquire one through any means.

Trump also mentioned that the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial shipping lane for global oil supply, would reopen immediately following the signing of the agreement. He stated, "In fact, they no longer want a Nuclear Weapon, nor will they have one," and reiterated, "The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL."

Trump clarified that no financial transactions would occur under this new agreement, contrasting it with the previous administration's nuclear deal. He remarked, "Unlike Obama's Hundreds of Billions of Dollars in payments to them, including 1.7 Billion Dollars in green, cold cash, no money will exchange hands." He also addressed the fate of Iran's remaining nuclear materials, stating, "At the appropriate time, when all is calm, we will go in and get the Nuclear Dust, buried deep under the powerful sunken granite mountains, thanks to our beautiful B-2 Bombers and their brilliant pilots, and downblend and destroy it, whether in Iran, or the United States."

Trump expressed a desire to foster a stronger relationship with Iran and the broader Middle East, saying, "We look forward to working with Iran, and the entire Middle East, long into the future." He conveyed optimism about the process but also indicated that alternative options would be available if negotiations falter. "Hopefully, this process will all work out quickly, easily, and smoothly. If it doesn't, we have the ultimate alternative, hopefully never to be used again!"This is a Developing Story and will be updated soon
