US President Comments on Iranian School Incident

During a press conference on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump stated that the attack on a girls' school in Iran, which occurred at the onset of the US-Iran conflict, was not a deliberate act. This statement comes as investigations into the incident are ongoing. Speaking to the media at the G7 Summit in Evian-les-Bains, France, Trump emphasized the need for caution before reaching conclusions, saying, “That’s under investigation. Nobody did that on purpose.”

The strike, which occurred on February 28, reportedly resulted in the deaths of over 175 children and teachers, making it one of the most tragic and contentious incidents of the conflict. An initial internal investigation by the US military suggested that American forces might have been responsible for the attack, prompting the Pentagon to broaden its inquiry, although no preliminary findings have been publicly confirmed.

Initially, Trump attributed blame to Iran without providing evidence but later admitted he lacked sufficient information regarding the strike. He expressed willingness to accept the investigation's conclusions once finalized. The head of US Central Command noted that the investigation has been complicated due to the school's proximity to an active Iranian cruise missile base. Reports indicate that investigators are nearing the end of their review.

Archived records reveal that the school was located next to a facility operated by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a significant military entity under the supreme leader's command. Additionally, sources have indicated that US officials may have used outdated intelligence when planning operations in the region. While the Pentagon has yet to disclose its final findings, the incident continues to raise concerns regarding civilian casualties and military targeting protocols during the conflict. Trump acknowledged the possibility of errors in wartime but reiterated that there was no intention to hit the school. The investigation's final results are anticipated to clarify accountability for the attack and the events leading to this tragic civilian loss.
