Trump Addresses Bulletproof Vest Speculation Amid Security Concerns

US President Donald Trump recently joked about rumors of wearing a bulletproof vest after an assassination attempt during a White House event. He expressed his reluctance to appear overly protected, emphasizing that he doesn't dwell on security threats. Meanwhile, US Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro released new footage related to the incident, indicating it was premeditated. The investigation continues as Trump remains unharmed, and discussions about his safety persist. This incident raises important questions about the level of protection for the president and the implications of such threats.

Trump Responds to Assassination Attempt Speculation

On Thursday, US President Donald Trump humorously addressed rumors regarding his alleged use of a bulletproof vest following a reported assassination attempt during a White House Correspondents' Dinner. He dismissed the claims while speaking to the press, joking that he didn't want to appear '20 pounds heavier' due to such protective gear. Trump remarked, 'I don't know if I can handle looking 20 pounds heavier. Some of these guys are physical specimens,' indicating his reluctance to appear overly guarded.

These comments come in light of a security scare at the prestigious event, prompting discussions about the safety measures in place for the president. Despite the threats, Trump conveyed that he remains largely unconcerned about potential attacks, stating, 'I guess it's something you consider... but I have been asked about it.' When pressed on whether he felt anxious about future threats, he replied, 'I don't think about it.'

Release of New Footage Related to the Incident

On the same day, US Attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeanine Ferris Pirro, unveiled footage linked to the alleged assassination attempt. In a post on X, she stated, 'Today, we are releasing video already provided to US District Court showing Cole Allen shoot a U.S. Secret Service officer during his attempt to assassinate the President at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.' Pirro also refuted claims that the shooting was due to friendly fire, emphasizing that there is no evidence supporting such theories.

The footage reportedly shows Allen surveying the Hilton Hotel area the day prior to the attack, indicating that prosecutors believe the act was premeditated. Pirro confirmed that her office, along with federal investigators, is diligently pursuing the case, stating, 'My office along with the @FBI will continue this extensive investigation to bring Cole Allen to justice.'

Fortunately, Trump was unharmed during the incident, and other prominent US leaders were evacuated from the annual dinner held last Saturday.
