On Wednesday, Manik Saha, the Chief Minister of Tripura, stated that his counterpart from Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has assured him that those responsible for the murder of Angel Chakma will not escape justice.

Angel Chakma, a 24-year-old from Unakoti district in Tripura, was severely injured during an attack by six individuals in Dehradun on December 9 and succumbed to his injuries on December 26.

During a visit to the Chakma family in Nandan Nagar, located on the outskirts of Agartala, Saha revealed that the assailants initially targeted Angel's younger brother, Michael Chakma, who is studying in Dehradun.

In an attempt to protect his brother, Angel confronted the attackers, resulting in severe injuries that led to his death after 17 days of treatment in a Dehradun hospital.

Describing the incident as tragic and unfortunate, the Chief Minister mentioned that he had already discussed the matter with Uttarakhand's Chief Minister, who assured him that the perpetrators would face the law.

Saha emphasized that the police would soon apprehend the remaining suspects, noting that five out of the six accused have already been arrested, with one still at large.

He also mentioned his upcoming trip to Delhi on January 19 and 20 for a meeting, where he plans to discuss the investigation's progress with Dhami, who will be in the national capital at the same time.

During his visit, Saha intends to urge for a strengthened investigation process to ensure justice is served.

Additionally, he shared that Angel's father, Tarun Kanti Chakma, currently serving in the BSF in Manipur, expressed a desire to be stationed at the BSF headquarters in Tripura.

Saha stated, 'I have asked him to write to me, and the government will certainly consider this matter. Regarding the request for a job for Angel's younger brother, I have asked him to submit his resume.'
