Tripura Chief Minister Thanks Modi and Shah for New IRBN Unit Approval

This new unit will increase the total number of IR battalions in the state to twelve, enhancing security and creating job opportunities for local youth. Approval of New Indian Reserve Battalion in Tripura

Manik Saha, the Chief Minister of Tripura, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for the approval of an additional unit of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRBN) in the northeastern state.

Currently, Tripura is home to three units of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and eleven IR battalions. With this new approval, the total number of IR battalions in the state will rise to twelve, according to an official.

On his Facebook page, the Chief Minister stated, 'A significant achievement for Tripura. The Ministry of Home Affairs has sanctioned another Indian Reserve Battalion for the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), which will enhance security and create job opportunities. I am thankful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.'

In the IRBN, 75% of the positions are filled by candidates from Tripura, while the remaining 25% are reserved for applicants from other states. Recently, the state police force has also been bolstered with the recruitment of 979 police constables.

An official noted, 'This is beneficial for a state like Tripura, which shares an international border. The establishment of another IRBN means more recruitment opportunities for the youth, and once the battalion is formed, it will enhance the resources of the state police.'
