Tripura Chief Minister Increases Monthly Stipend for Tribal Leaders

In a significant move to empower tribal leadership, Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced an increase in the monthly stipend for tribal heads from ₹2,000 to ₹5,000. This decision, which affects 20 recognized tribal leaders across 19 tribes in the state, aims to strengthen grassroots leadership. Saha shared this update via a Facebook post, highlighting the cabinet's approval of essential amendments to the existing stipend policy. This initiative marks a crucial step in supporting the tribal community in Tripura.
 

Enhancing Support for Tribal Leadership

The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, has announced a significant increase in the monthly stipend for tribal leaders, raising it from ₹2,000 to ₹5,000. This decision affects the 20 recognized tribal heads in the state, which is home to 19 acknowledged tribes.


Among these tribes, the Jamatia tribe has two principal leaders. In a Facebook post on Thursday, Saha emphasized that this move is part of a broader initiative aimed at empowering grassroots tribal leadership. He stated that the state cabinet has approved crucial amendments to the existing policy regarding the stipends for tribal leaders, thereby enhancing their financial support.
