Trinamool Congress Unveils Candidate List for Assam Assembly Elections

The All India Trinamool Congress has officially announced its first batch of 17 candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections. Guwahati, March 21: The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) has officially entered the electoral race in Assam by releasing its initial list of 17 candidates for the forthcoming Assembly elections.


This announcement was made by the Assam Pradesh unit, led by party leader Mamata Banerjee, on Friday. The candidates span various constituencies in Lower Assam, Upper Assam, and Barak Valley.


A significant aspect of this list is the nomination of Dulu Ahmed, the Sr. Vice-President of the Assam Pradesh Trinamool Congress, who will be contesting from the Chamaria constituency.


This development introduces a competitive dynamic, as Rekibuddin Ahmed from the Indian National Congress and Imdad Husaain from the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) are also vying for the same seat.


Other notable candidates include Udangsri Narzary for Baokhungri, Mominur Islam for Bilasipara, Arif Akhtar Ahmed for Jaleswar, Kaushik Ranjan Das for Abhayapuri, Kalyani Kalita for Bajali, Bhoglal Rabha for Boko-Chaygaon (ST), Bikash Nath Yogi for Palasbari, Amirul Islam for Barkhetri, Rajan Chouhan for Goreswar, and Hare Krishna Deka for Mangaldai.


In Upper Assam, Jiten Nag will represent the party in Digboi, while Dilip Moran is nominated for Makum. Narendra Kumar Paw has been selected for Dhemaji (ST).


In the Barak Valley area, candidates include Tapas Das (Udharbond), Fazlur Rahman Laskar (Katigorah), and Shahajahan Laskar (Sonai).


This candidate list indicates the Trinamool Congress's ambition to broaden its influence in Assam, paving the way for competitive elections in multiple constituencies throughout the state.
