Tributes Paid to Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee on His Death Anniversary

On the death anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid their respects. Honoring a National Leader

On Tuesday, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari paid homage to Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, the founder of the Bharatiya Janata Sangh, on the occasion of his death anniversary. He offered floral tributes at Mukherjee's statue located at the Keoratala crematorium in South Kolkata.


Accompanying him were the state's Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta and Industry Minister Tapas Roy. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid his respects to Mukherjee, stating that his unwavering dedication, courage, and commitment to national interests will continue to inspire generations.


In a post on the social media platform 'X', Modi expressed, 'On this Sacrifice Day, I pay tribute to Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee. He was a distinguished patriot, scholar, and politician who dedicated his life to the development of India. His unwavering loyalty, courage, and commitment to the national interest will inspire future generations.'


Additionally, Samik Bhattacharya, the president of the West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), also paid floral tributes at Mukherjee's statue. Dr. Mukherjee passed away under mysterious circumstances in a jail in Srinagar on June 23, 1953, after being arrested for allegedly entering Jammu and Kashmir without a permit.
