Tributes Paid as Former Mizoram Governor's Ashes Immersed in Ganga

In a heartfelt ceremony, Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of the late Swaraj Kaushal, immersed her father's ashes in the Ganga at Brijghat. Surrounded by family and friends, she honored his memory through traditional Hindu rituals. Kaushal, who served as the Governor of Mizoram and was married to the late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, passed away recently due to a heart attack. This poignant farewell was attended by local officials and community members, reflecting the deep respect held for him.
 

Final Farewell for Swaraj Kaushal

Following the passing of Swaraj Kaushal, the former Governor of Mizoram and a prominent lawyer, his daughter and BJP MP, Bansuri Swaraj, participated in a poignant ceremony on Friday morning. Alongside family members and well-wishers, she immersed her father's ashes in the Ganga at Brijghat.


Bansuri Swaraj arrived at Brijghat with close relatives to perform the immersion of the ashes according to Hindu customs. With tearful eyes, she carried out various rituals while priests conducted traditional prayers. Local representatives, police, and administrative officials were also present at the ghat to pay their respects to Kaushal.


An administrative official confirmed that the immersion was conducted with all due religious formalities. The 73-year-old Swaraj Kaushal was the husband of the late senior BJP leader and former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. He passed away on Thursday due to a heart attack after experiencing chest pain at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Delhi.
