Tribute Dinner Celebrates Legacy of Punjabi Writer Nanak Singh

A heartfelt tribute dinner was held in Dalhousie to honor the legacy of renowned Punjabi writer Nanak Singh. The event featured moving ghazal performances and personal stories shared by his grandson, Navdeep Suri. Honoring a Literary Icon

In Dalhousie, the social group Kala evam Lekhak Manch organized a heartfelt tribute dinner at the Manimahesh Hotel to honor the late Nanak Singh, a distinguished Punjabi author.

The event was attended by Navdeep Suri, the grandson of Nanak Singh and a former diplomat, who served as the chief guest alongside his wife. They received a warm welcome from Dr. Captain G.S. Dhillon, the organization’s chief patron, and Chairman Ashok Mahajan.

The evening was enriched with enchanting ghazal performances that resonated with the attendees. Baldev Mohan Khosla, the General Secretary, emphasized Nanak Singh’s impactful writing, which often focused on themes of patriotism and the everyday struggles of people. He also mentioned the writer's fondness for Dalhousie, a place he visited frequently.

Navdeep Suri shared cherished memories of his grandfather and recited passages from some of his notable works, such as Khooni Panja, Chitta Lahu, Pavitra Paapi, and Ik Mian Do Talwar. As a gesture of respect, Dr. Dhillon and Ashok Mahajan presented him with a traditional shawl and cap, while his wife received a similar honor from Vandana Chaddha, the President of the Dalhousie Municipal Council.

The gathering also included notable figures such as SDM Dalhousie Anil Bhardwaj, SE PWD Jeet Thakur, and former MC President Manoj Chaddha, along with other community members like Sudhir and Poonam Dhawan from Hilltop School, Nitin Mahajan, Seema Chandel Mahajan, Rajendra Rai, Paramjit Singh, Karan Monga, Vinod Mahajan, and Colonel Kapila.
