Community's Call for Cultural Identity in Census

In Dhaulpur, the Tribal Mina Panch-Patel Mahapanchayat has made a strong appeal to its community members to accurately record their cultural and community identity in the upcoming census. The Mahapanchayat emphasizes that every citizen has the right to freely express their religious, cultural, and community identity, and no one should be coerced into providing a different identity or religion against their will.

The Mahapanchayat specifically urges all members of the Tribal Mina community to select the 'Other' option in the religion section of the census form and clearly write 'Tribal' in that space. Additionally, they should indicate 'Scheduled Tribe (ST)' in the category section and 'Mina' in the community/caste section.

Officials from the organization stated that using consistent and accurate terminology across the community will ensure clear and precise data in the census, preventing any future confusion, disputes, or misunderstandings. They warned that incorrect identification could adversely affect the community's traditional social structure, rights, and future plans.

The Mahapanchayat also advised vigilance regarding the behavior of census officials. They urged individuals to read and verify the information filled out by census workers. If any employee records incorrect information, applies pressure, or acts arbitrarily, individuals should promptly report this to the relevant authorities—district collector, sub-collector, or local administration.

National President Dr. Purushottam Lal Mina and State President Prithviraj Mina jointly stated,

"This campaign is being conducted to protect our cultural identity and constitutional rights. We urge the entire community to firmly register their true tribal identity."

The Mahapanchayat has initiated an awareness campaign across villages. In Dhaulpur district, efforts are underway to distribute pamphlets, hold meetings, and educate people door-to-door, receiving strong local support.

District representative Rameshwar Dayal mentioned that social media, WhatsApp groups, and print media are being utilized to spread this message to as many people as possible. He encouraged the public to share this important appeal with their families, relatives, and neighbors to ensure that no one inadvertently records incorrect information due to pressure or forgetfulness.
