Training Aircraft Crash-Lands in Pune's Baramati; Pilot Unharmed
Incident Overview
A significant aviation incident has occurred in the Baramati taluka of Pune district, Maharashtra. On Wednesday morning, a two-seater training aircraft made an emergency landing in the village of Gojubavi. Fortunately, the trainee pilot on board emerged unscathed. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, with police teams dispatched to the scene to gather further information.
Details of the Crash
According to Pune Rural Police Superintendent Sandeep Singh Gill, the incident took place around 8:50 AM near Gojubavi village, adjacent to the airport. Gill reported, "This morning at approximately 8:50 AM, a training aircraft from Red Bird Aviation experienced a crash landing near Gojubavi village. Initial eyewitness accounts suggest that the aircraft encountered a technical malfunction while flying at a low altitude. During the crash landing, a part of the aircraft collided with an electric pole before it fell to the ground." The sole trainee pilot on board did not sustain any serious injuries. Gill added, "There was only one trainee pilot in the aircraft, and fortunately, he did not suffer any major injuries. Upon receiving the report, police personnel quickly arrived at the scene to conduct necessary investigations and take further action. Updates will be shared as they become available."
Pilot's Condition and Rescue Efforts
At the time of the crash, the aircraft was occupied solely by the trainee pilot. Superintendent Gill confirmed that the pilot is safe and has not sustained any serious injuries. Local police teams and rescue personnel promptly arrived at the site to initiate further investigations.
Gojubavi Village: A Site of Concern?
Interestingly, this is not the first aviation incident in Gojubavi village. The area gained attention a few months ago when an aircraft linked to NCP leader Ajit Pawar also crashed within the village limits. The recurrence of such incidents in the same location raises serious questions about safety standards.
Key Investigation Points
The Civil Aviation Department and local authorities have ordered a thorough investigation into the incident. The inquiry will primarily focus on two aspects:
Engine Failure: Was there a lapse in the aircraft's maintenance that led to the engine failure?
Emergency Landing Conditions: A review will be conducted regarding the collision with the electric pole and the procedures followed during the landing.
Currently, Red Bird Aviation and police officials are working to gather more information.
