Tragic Weekend in Odisha: Seven Lives Lost in Multiple Accidents

Multiple Fatal Accidents in Odisha

On Sunday, Odisha witnessed a tragic series of accidents that resulted in the deaths of seven individuals and left over 15 others injured, as reported by local authorities. According to police, a collision occurred on National Highway-55 in the Dhanupali police station area of Sambalpur district, where a car crashed into a stationary truck, claiming three lives.


Local residents, along with police, worked together to rescue the injured passengers trapped inside the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries at Burla Medical College and Hospital.


In a separate incident in Binika, Sonpur district, two members of the same family lost their lives in a road accident. A police official stated that the victims were riding a motorcycle when they collided with a van, resulting in their deaths. Their bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.


The third incident involved two friends who died in a motorcycle accident in the Banarpal police station area of Angul district. Additionally, over 15 people were injured in a collision between a minibus and a van in Jhatipitia, under the jurisdiction of the Digapahandi police station in Ganjam district.


Emergency responders, including police and firefighters, promptly rescued the injured passengers and transported them to a local hospital. Furthermore, on Saturday night, a motorcycle accident near Mahendragarh in the R Udaygiri police station area of Gajapati district resulted in one fatality and another person sustaining injuries after the bike fell approximately 25 feet from a bridge.
