Tragic Terror Attack in Kulgam Claims Lives of Two Workers

Fatalities Rise in Kulgam Terror Incident

On Saturday, a second worker injured in the terrorist attack in Kulgam succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS hospital, bringing the death toll to two. In response to the incident, authorities have cordoned off the entire area and initiated a search operation. The attack occurred in the Kelam region of Kulgam district, where gunfire from militants resulted in the death of an external worker and left another injured.


Security Forces Mobilize in Response

The Jammu and Kashmir police reported that security forces have secured the area and commenced a search operation to locate the assailants. Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, condemned the terrorist attack on social media, instructing security forces to intensify their operations and eliminate those responsible for the attack.


In a post on X, Sinha mentioned that he had spoken with DGP Nalin Prabhat and senior security officials following the attack. He expressed his strong condemnation of the cowardly act that led to the death of a worker from Chhattisgarh. He reiterated his directive for security forces to escalate their operations to apprehend the terrorists.


Additionally, he confirmed that the Jammu and Kashmir police, along with security forces, have established a blockade in the area and launched an operation to bring the perpetrators to justice. Another injured worker from Chhattisgarh was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment. According to police reports, the militants targeted workers at a brick kiln in the Kelam area late Friday evening. One of the deceased workers has been identified as Deepak Ratre, who unfortunately passed away from his injuries before reaching the hospital.
