Incident Overview

Kanpur News: A distressing incident has emerged from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, highlighting the severe consequences of marital strife. A 25-year-old auto driver, Raja Diwakar, took his own life by hanging himself at home on Saturday night. The catalyst for this tragic decision appears to be a message sent by his wife on WhatsApp, in which she referred to him as a 'coward.'

The incident occurred in the Sen West Para area. According to family members, Raja and his wife, Karishma, had been experiencing ongoing disputes for the past month. Following a disagreement, Karishma had returned to her parental home in Gulwapur, Kanpur Dehat. On Saturday evening, Raja attempted to call her to persuade her to return home, which led to a heated argument filled with insults.

In a fit of anger, Raja made three consecutive video calls to his wife between 5:29 PM and 6:14 PM, but she did not answer. Subsequently, he sent a message on WhatsApp stating, 'I want to hang myself in front of you, call me on video and see now.'

‘I will tell the children their father was a coward’

Raja not only sent this message but also shared a photo of himself with a noose around his neck later that night. Instead of showing concern, his wife responded harshly at 7:47 PM, saying, 'Fine, if you want to die, then go ahead... I will tell our child that their father was a coward.'

After receiving this response, Raja was devastated and decided to end his life by hanging from the ceiling fan that night. The following morning, when his mother Maya and brother Sonu woke up, they were shocked to find the scene in his room.

Legal Action to Follow

Upon receiving the news, police from the Sen West Para station and a forensic team arrived at the scene. They seized the deceased's mobile phone, which contained evidence of the WhatsApp chats and the last calls made. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigations suggest that the incident stemmed from domestic discord and personal disputes. The WhatsApp conversations indicate that the young man acted impulsively. If the family files a formal complaint, legal action will be initiated under the relevant sections.
