A catastrophic incident occurred at the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), commonly known as the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, where a significant amount of molten steel spilled, leading to fears of multiple fatalities and injuries. A local trade union leader, speaking on the condition of anonymity, informed that the mishap took place around 4:30 PM in the Continuous Casting Department (CCD) of the Steel Melting Shop (SMS) section, with reports suggesting that nine individuals may have lost their lives. The leader explained, 'A ladle transporting molten steel malfunctioned suddenly, causing a large spill. The intense heat and subsequent fire engulfed nearby workers, resulting in numerous casualties.'

According to additional reports, the incident was linked to operations involving NTC-3 Heat F. Another trade union representative stated, 'While lifting the molten steel, a significant leak occurred, igniting a fierce fire.' Emergency response teams and firefighters promptly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue and firefighting efforts. Injured workers were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Union leaders claim that nine bodies have been recovered, but RINL management has yet to confirm the death toll or issue an official statement.
