Shooting Incident Claims Life in Doda
A serious incident has emerged from the Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. Following an alleged attempt to seize a rifle from security forces on the Jai-Gandoh road, a 30-year-old man lost his life, and three members of the Special Operations Group (SOG) sustained injuries. Officials confirmed the occurrence of this incident on Friday. In response, additional security personnel have been deployed in the town of Bhaderwah as a precautionary measure.
Details of the Incident
According to police officials, a religious preacher has been taken into custody in connection with the incident, although the exact nature of his involvement remains unclear. A senior officer indicated that an SOG team was stationed on the Jai-Gandoh road, approximately 35 kilometers from Bhaderwah, after receiving reports of suspicious activities in the elevated area.
At around 11:30 PM, the SOG team attempted to stop a young man who allegedly attacked the security personnel in an effort to snatch their government-issued rifle. During the ensuing struggle, an SOG member discharged his weapon, resulting in the young man being shot, along with injuries to three police officers. All four individuals were initially transported to the sub-district hospital in Bhaderwah before being referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Doda for advanced treatment.
Casualties and Ongoing Operations
Arif Hussain, a 30-year-old resident of Chika village, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. Authorities have confirmed the detention of a religious preacher in relation to the case. To ensure safety, additional units of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and local police have been deployed in Bhaderwah. Furthermore, the army has initiated a search operation in the Gandoh area.
