Amaravati, July 28: A tragic accident in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district resulted in the deaths of three devotees and left 13 others injured when their van was struck by a truck, according to police reports.
The collision occurred shortly after midnight near Chelluru, where the truck collided with the parked van. Three individuals, including a young boy, lost their lives at the scene, while 13 others sustained injuries.
Authorities revealed that the truck, traveling at high speed, dragged the van for approximately 500 meters.
Sixteen individuals from three families, hailing from Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram districts, were en route to the Majji Gauramma temple in Rayagada, Odisha, for a pilgrimage.
The victims have been identified as Chintapalli Rambabu alias Ramanaidu (50), Majji Narayana Rao (50), and B. Mohan Naidu (8).
The injured parties were transported to a government hospital in Vizianagaram, where one person's condition remains critical.
Police have initiated an investigation and registered a case regarding the incident.
Additional Accidents Reported
In a separate incident in Krishna district, another accident claimed a life early Tuesday morning on the Chennai-Kolkata highway near Bommaluru.
A car collided with a stationary truck, resulting in the immediate death of the driver, Nunna Suresh, who was the managing director of Tirumala Educational Institutions in Rajamahendravaram. His wife, who was in the passenger seat, sustained injuries.
The couple was traveling from Vijayawada to Rajamahendravaram, and the injured woman was promptly taken to a nearby hospital.
In Telangana, a Road Transport Corporation bus accident left 12 passengers injured when the bus struck a tree near Metpally Police Station in Jagtial district.
The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus was en route from Nizamabad to Warangal when the driver reportedly lost control. The injured passengers were admitted to a local hospital, and an investigation is currently underway.
