Devastating Collision on Expressway

A horrific road accident occurred early Wednesday morning on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Unnao district, leaving the community in shock. A private sleeper bus collided violently with an Ertiga car, causing the bus to lose control and crash through the expressway's railing, plummeting downwards. This tragic incident resulted in the deaths of at least five individuals, including two young children, at the scene, while eight others sustained serious injuries. The collision took place around 4:30 AM near the village of Devkhari, close to the Bangarmau police station area.


Details of the Incident

According to police reports, the sleeper bus was en route from Haryana to Bihar when it collided with the Ertiga car coming from the opposite direction. The impact caused the bus driver to lose control, leading to the bus crashing down onto the road below, while the Ertiga was severely damaged.


Authorities identified the deceased passengers in the car as Dhunmun (60), Anju (40), Divya (6), Amrita (13), and the driver Vinod (45), all of whom died at the scene.


Injuries and Rescue Efforts

Four additional passengers in the car and four individuals traveling on the bus were injured and have been transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.


Circle Officer Harsh Modi from Bangarmau indicated that initial investigations suggest the bus driver may have dozed off, leading to the accident. He confirmed that a thorough investigation into the exact cause of the crash is underway. Following the incident, police and administrative officials arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations. The injured were taken to the hospital, and the deceased were sent for post-mortem examinations. District Magistrate Ghanshyam Meena and Superintendent of Police Jai Prakash Singh visited the accident site and instructed officials to ensure necessary actions are taken.
