Tragic Road Accident in Rajasthan Claims Lives of Two Policemen and an Accused

Fatal Incident on National Highway-48

Jaipur, May 15: A devastating road accident occurred on National Highway-48 in the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan on Friday, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including two Railway Police officers and a suspect they were escorting.

The tragic collision took place near the Mandal Chowk flyover, causing significant damage to the motorcycle involved and creating chaos on the busy highway.

The deceased officers have been identified as Head Constable Lekhraj Bagri (55) from Kishangarh and Constable Ravindra Kumar Jat (48), both stationed at the Bhilwara outpost of the Chittorgarh Government Railway Police (GRP). The third victim, Chhotu Bhil (40), was a suspect in a motorcycle theft case being transported by the officers at the time of the incident.

As per police reports, the two GRP personnel were en route from Mandal to Bhilwara with the accused early Friday morning. Due to the unavailability of an official police vehicle, they had to use a motorcycle for the transport. Between 5:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., while approaching the Mandal Chowk flyover on the Jaipur-Udaipur highway, a speeding truck collided with their motorcycle with great force. The impact was so severe that both officers died instantly.

The motorcycle was left unrecognizable after the crash. Local residents quickly alerted the police and emergency services. An ambulance team arrived promptly to transport the injured to Mandal Sub-District Hospital, where doctors pronounced Head Constable Lekhraj and Constable Ravindra dead upon arrival.

Chhotu Bhil, who was critically injured, was transferred to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in Bhilwara after receiving initial treatment but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries during care.

The accident led to significant traffic disruptions on NH-48, with long queues forming for nearly thirty minutes.

Upon receiving news of the incident, Trainee IPS officer Ayush Kumar Kshatriya and the Mandal police team arrived at the scene. Officials utilized cranes to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow.

The bodies have been placed in the mortuary at Mandal Hospital, and the families of the deceased have been notified.

The unexpected loss of two GRP personnel while on duty has deeply affected the police departments in Bhilwara and Chittorgarh, with colleagues expressing their sorrow over the tragedy.
