Tragic Road Accident in Karnataka Claims Six Lives

Yadgir (Karnataka), April 17: A devastating road accident in Yadgir district of Karnataka resulted in the loss of six lives on Friday. The incident involved a head-on collision between a car and a private bus, which subsequently ignited a fierce blaze.
All six individuals in the car perished in the fire, while two others were rescued by locals. These survivors suffered severe injuries and have been transported to a nearby hospital, with one in critical condition.
As reported by local authorities, the accident took place near Devapur in the Surpur taluk, under the jurisdiction of the Surpur Police Station.
Initial investigations suggest that the car was en route from Yadgir to Raichur when it collided with a bus traveling from Bengaluru to Kalaburagi.
The collision was catastrophic, leading to an immediate fire that engulfed both the car and the bus. The car was completely consumed by flames, resulting in the instant deaths of all six occupants.
Firefighters and emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire.
Surpur police also reached the location to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Further details are still pending.
Authorities are working to determine the precise cause of the crash, and the identities of the deceased have yet to be confirmed. Both the car and the bus were destroyed in the fire following the collision.
This incident echoes a previous tragedy on December 25, 2025, when a private sleeper bus traveling from Bengaluru to Gokarna caught fire after colliding with a truck near Hiriyur in Chitradurga district, resulting in multiple fatalities. That collision, which occurred around 2:30 A.M. on National Highway 48, claimed the lives of at least six passengers trapped inside, with 28 others injured.
The victims included Bindu V, her daughter Grema, and friends Manasa, Navya, and Rashmi Mahale, who were traveling from Bengaluru to Gokarna. Additionally, the truck driver, reportedly from Uttar Pradesh, also lost his life in the incident.
