A Joyous Occasion Turns to Tragedy
In Jalore district, Rajasthan, the festive spirit of Janmashtami was shattered for one family as tragedy struck. On Friday night, a road accident claimed the lives of a man and his one-and-a-half-year-old nephew while they were returning home with offerings.
Returning with Offerings
According to police reports, 25-year-old Dashrath from Niblana had set out on his motorcycle to collect sweets and fruits for the Janmashtami celebration, accompanied by his young nephew Himanshu. They were on their way back home with the prasad.
The unfortunate incident occurred around 8:30 PM near the Mandavla toll plaza in the Bishangarh police jurisdiction. It was reported that a tractor-trailer was parked on the road in the dark, and the motorcycle collided with it, resulting in the deaths of both individuals.
Child's Desire to Accompany Uncle
Family members shared that Himanshu was very close to his uncle Dashrath and often spent time with him. On the day of Janmashtami, when Dashrath was leaving home, the little boy insisted on going along, leading to him riding on the motorcycle with his uncle.
The tragic accident left the family in deep shock.
Police Investigation Underway
Upon receiving news of the accident, the police arrived at the scene. The bodies were sent for post-mortem, and by Saturday morning, they were handed over to the family. Authorities have seized the motorcycle and tractor-trailer and have begun investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Grief Strikes the Family
Dashrath was engaged in farming, and his nephew's father is also a farmer. The loss of two family members in a single incident has cast a pall of sorrow over their household.
This incident raises concerns regarding the safety of heavy vehicles parked on roads at night. It is crucial to ensure adequate lighting and warning signals when vehicles are stationary to alert approaching drivers of potential hazards.
