Hazaribagh, April 27: A devastating road accident occurred in the Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand on Monday, resulting in the immediate deaths of a mother and her son when their vehicle collided with a stationary Hyva truck parked by the roadside. Two other family members suffered serious injuries in the incident.

As reported by local authorities, the tragic event took place within the jurisdiction of Muffasil police station while Mahavir Prasad's family was returning from a wedding in Patna. Their car crashed into the back of a Hyva truck that was parked along the road.

The force of the impact was catastrophic, completely crushing the front of the car and trapping the passengers inside. Eyewitnesses described hearing a loud noise akin to an explosion at the moment of the crash, highlighting the severity of the collision.

Upon being alerted, Roshan Kumar, the officer in charge of Muffasil police station, quickly arrived at the scene with his team. Local residents also participated in the rescue efforts. Due to the extensive damage, rescuers had to use tools to cut open the vehicle to free those trapped.

All four individuals involved were swiftly transported to Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH). Unfortunately, doctors pronounced Vidya Devi and her son Chandan Kumar dead upon arrival.

The injured, identified as Mahavir Prasad and Ankita Devi, received initial medical attention before being transferred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for further treatment. Family members reported that both remain in critical condition.

Authorities have confiscated both the damaged car and the Hyva truck involved in the accident. Initial investigations suggest that speeding or the driver possibly falling asleep may have contributed to the crash. However, officials stated that a thorough investigation will determine the precise cause.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent for autopsy, and further inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
