Tragic Road Accident Claims Four Lives in Bihar
Fatal Collision on National Highway-106
Patna, Jan 17: A devastating road accident in the Madhepura district of Bihar resulted in the deaths of four individuals on Saturday.
The collision took place around 4:30 a.m. on National Highway-106, near BN Mandal University and the power grid area, when a speeding truck struck a car head-on.
Authorities reported that the car sustained severe damage, leading to the tragic loss of all four passengers due to critical injuries.
Local residents promptly notified the Sadar police station and called for ambulance services.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and, with the assistance of locals, extricated the victims from the wreckage.
The injured were transported to Sadar Hospital, where they were pronounced dead by medical staff.
The deceased have been sent for post-mortem examinations.
Two of the victims have been identified as Sonu Kumar, son of Ashok Sah from Gulzarbagh (Ward No. 20), and Sahil Raj, son of Subodh Sah from Masjid Chowk (Ward No. 13).
The identities of the other two victims remain unknown, and police are actively working to establish who they are.
"The truck driver fled the scene following the incident. We have confiscated both the truck and the damaged vehicle, and a manhunt is underway to locate the driver," stated the SHO of Madhepura Sadar Police Station.
Initial investigations indicate that excessive speed and reckless driving may have contributed to the accident.
Police officials confirmed that a thorough investigation is in progress, and stringent measures will be taken against those deemed responsible.
This incident has reignited concerns regarding road safety in Bihar, especially on national highways, where speeding-related accidents have become alarmingly common, according to local residents.
Community members and social organizations are calling for stricter traffic law enforcement, enhanced speed control measures, and improved road signage to avert such tragic incidents in the future.
