Murder Incident in Mahoba
In a shocking incident in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, a young man, along with his friend, has been accused of murdering his girlfriend. Following a police encounter, two suspects have been apprehended, and one police officer sustained injuries during the operation.
Details of the Murder Case
The police have made significant progress in the Priyanka Raikwar murder case. Authorities revealed that the victim was killed after her boyfriend learned that she was to be married to someone else. The relationship had already caused turmoil in the boyfriend's marriage, leading his wife to leave him after discovering the affair.
The body of the young woman was discovered in a forested area of Subhash Nagar on April 14, causing widespread alarm. Priyanka Raikwar was identified as the victim, who was scheduled to marry on July 8. The post-mortem report confirmed that she had been strangled. Her family subsequently filed a complaint against two young men.
Confrontation with Police
As the police intensified their search for the suspects, they conducted checks on suspicious individuals along the Gram Dahra road. When the two suspects arrived on a motorcycle and were stopped, they opened fire on the police. In response, the police returned fire.
During the exchange, Inspector Manish Pandey of the city police was grazed by a bullet, resulting in minor injuries, while both suspects were shot in the legs. This encounter occurred late Tuesday night around 1:09 AM, after which the injured were taken to the district hospital.
Domestic Turmoil and Motive
According to SP Shashank Singh, the accused, Sumit Singh, had been involved with the victim. Sumit had recently married, but when his wife discovered the illicit relationship, it led to conflict at home, prompting her to leave him.
Sumit became distressed upon learning that his girlfriend's marriage was arranged elsewhere. In a fit of rage, he called her to meet and subsequently strangled her with a scarf.
Condition of the Victim
Reports indicate that the victim left her home alone after 2 AM. When her family awoke, they found her missing. After searching, they discovered her body approximately 300 meters from their home, near a hill. The victim's face bore signs of injury, and her eyes were not visible.
The police recovered the victim's mobile phone, along with three other phones, a motorcycle, and two firearms, including a 315 bore and a 12 bore, along with cartridges. Investigations are ongoing.
